BABY'S ON TRIAL . . .

better drink some fire water. Yeah, the jury hour is fast approaching, and your humble host, fueled by electric Miles, Big Youth and Shabbat Noir, must now turn all attention to wooing the 12 lucky San Franciscan souls who'll take the box in the case of ________ v. __________. You peckish soundhounds, all 3 of you, or whoever the hell reads this blog and digs 'em their Waveform Baby, will have to dine elswhere until around Thanksgiving.

WAVEFORM BABY--SEPTEMBER 25, 2007

What better way to mend hearts broken by a long, slow Tigers collapse than by cranking two of the finest clavinet workouts of all time -- "Am I Black Enough for You" and "Trampled Under Foot" -- back to back? You'll need to kick "Higher Ground" or "Superstition" on your own. And what better way to mend spirits broken by the perpetual auto-gelding exhibition of "our" Donkeys in the District than w/6 discs of "On the Corner" sessions, kindly dropped by Sony and the Miles estate this very day? W/enough "Black Satin" (and "Calypso Frelimo" and "Rated X" and, hell, the vinyl reissue of "Sleep's Holy Mountain," just for good measure), blared at "11," and perhaps a Dubliner's dose of Bushmills, maybe even HRC could finally call a wingnut filibuster by its proper fuckin' name.

In the meantime, dig this. It should be up at the main site tonight. And if Om, Circle or Endless Boogie come to your town, by all means, let them help you party down.

WHERE'S THE DAMN BABY?

Good question, and one I'm sure you're all consumed with learning the answer to. Here it is: After a well-earned week off, I learned that WRHC has moved the show from Friday night to Monday night to make room for a new, live show (as anyone could tell from its glittering production values, Waveform Baby is done remotely). That means weekly updates to this blog and www.waveformbaby.org will now occur mid-week. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for a fresh serving of sonic joy just in time for your 4th of July festivities. In the meantime, check out the kick-arse mixes of African goodies at www.voodoofunk.blogspot.com.

'Twas indeed a trip, what w/more time passed between NA and NA reunited than between "Rock Around The Clock" and NA the first time. WAVEFORM BABY -- APRIL 13, 2007

It was your lucky day after all, especially if you listened to these choice morsels at www.radioharborcountry.org. The show should be up at www.waveformbaby.org by Sunday afternoon. And if you haven't done it yet, you need your Sly Stone reissues. For God knows what reason, they waited until cds were about to become obsolete before issuing proper cds of some of the greatest recordings ever made. Oh well, better late than never. We'll play a bunch of Sly in a week or two, but for now, stiff the doctor, the grocer and even the cable company and buy (at least) There's a Riot Goin' On, Fresh and Small Talk. It gets no better.

WAVEFORM BABY -- MARCH 30, 2007

Well, the Baby's been as irregular as gut full of tough, rancid meat and for that I apologize but it was for a good cause: a Caribbean cruise. All I say is that people eat far more bacon than you'd ever think possible -- rasher after rasher, ad infinitum, and then chase it down with an equally shocking number of fruity alcoholic concoctions. Oh, and fuck David Johansen for writing that "Hot Hot Hot" song. It catapults him to the upper (or is that lower) ranks of the "oh how far they've fallen" sweepstakes, in the sorry company of the likes of Aerosmith, Seger and Rod Stewart.

Anyway, there was no show on April 6, but on March 30, listeners were treated to this rich sampling of the art of the kick-arse . Enjoy it starting this evening, April 8, 2007, at www.waveformbaby.org.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to my aces little rocker, the greatest thing in my little world, Henry V "Bubba" Michaels, who'll turn 9 just after lunch, central time.
